Yacht Charters
In the early 1960's, a small group of intrepid travelers began cruising the spectacular untouched bays of Turkey's Aegean coast to promote Mediterranean civilization and a return to nature. In those days, these "blue cruises" were rustic affairs, made in simple boats, often without even the most basic amenities such as toilets and baths.
However, today the coastline remains unspoiled and the water is as blue as ever-all the other aspects of the journey have become world-class, with every modern convenience available. Naturally, with these improvements of the blue cruise, the skills of the crew have changed also. In addition to captains who speak foreign languages, crews provide exceptional quality service, and in close quarters, people truly appreciate the value of good service. When you take a blue cruise, you will have a profound experience of the past, while hugging Turkey's shores where history and nature blend in a rare synthesis, and where ancient ruins are found mingling with modern life. What a pleasure to experience them together on the sea!
What is a gulet?
The early history of the gulet remains largely unknown, apart from the fact that construction of these wooden boats in Turkey is a tradition unique to Bodrum, although the gulet itself is suitable for all seas.
Crafted in keeping with the spirit and structure of their historical counterparts, these elite yachts have become very popular in the last few years. They are small in number but unique and superior in quality and they have made a name for themselves in the world.
It takes nearly two years to build a gulet. The type of wood doesn't matter, but the timber must be cut at full moon in June, July or August. Of course, good craftsmanship is also important.
